Israeli President Herzog Urges Strengthened India-Israel Ties, Highlights IMEC as ‘Future of the World

Jerusalem | April 21, 2025: Israeli President Isaac Herzog has called for deeper strategic collaboration between Israel and India, emphasizing the transformative potential of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). During a formal ceremony where India’s newly appointed Ambassador to Israel, J.P. Singh, presented his credentials, Herzog described IMEC as the “future of the world,” highlighting its capacity to reshape global connectivity and geopolitical dynamics.

President Herzog expressed admiration for India’s leadership and conveyed eagerness to enhance bilateral relations. He underscored the importance of joint efforts in addressing geostrategic challenges, including regional security concerns and the prevention of nuclear proliferation. Herzog also reiterated the significance of initiatives like the I2U2 group, comprising India, Israel, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, aimed at fostering economic and strategic cooperation.

Ambassador Singh reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Israel, noting collaborative efforts in sectors such as agriculture, water management, information technology, and defense. He highlighted IMEC as a pivotal project that not only connects civilizations but also promotes peace and inclusion through enhanced connectivity.

The IMEC project, announced during the New Delhi G20 summit in 2023, aims to establish infrastructure links from India through the Middle East to Europe, serving as a counterbalance to existing trade routes and enhancing global trade dynamics.
