13-Year-Old Muslim Boy Stabbed in Kanpur for Refusing to Chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh | April 19, 2025: A 13-year-old Muslim boy was allegedly assaulted by three minors in the Sarsaul area of Kanpur’s Maharajpur police circle for refusing to chant “Jai Shri Ram.” The incident occurred on Thursday evening when the boy was en route to a bus stop near his residence.

According to reports, the assailants demanded that the boy bow down, touch their feet, and chant the religious slogan. Upon his refusal, they allegedly broke a glass bottle and stabbed him in the thigh with a shard.

The injured boy returned home and informed his family, after which his grandfather filed a complaint with the Maharajpur police station. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chakeri, Sumit Ramtek confirmed the ongoing probe.

The boy has reportedly faced similar incidents in the past, highlighting concerns about communal tensions in the area.
