Adani Group Finalises Complete Acquisition of IANS News Agency

India’s Adani Group has completed its full takeover of the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) by acquiring the remaining shares it did not already own, making the agency a wholly-owned subsidiary of its media arm, AMG Media Networks Ltd. The transaction was formalised through a Share Purchase Agreement executed on January 21, 2026, according to regulatory filings. (The Siasat Daily)

The group had initially entered the media space in 2023, acquiring a majority 50.50% stake in IANS and increasing control gradually — including the purchase of 76% of voting shares and nearly all non-voting equity. The latest deal transfers the final 24% of voting shares and minor remaining equity to AMG Media Networks, solidifying Adani’s complete ownership. (The Siasat Daily)

IANS is one of India’s established multi-language news agencies, providing content to print, digital and broadcast outlets across the country and beyond. With this acquisition, the Adani Group’s media footprint now includes newswire services alongside other major media investments such as NDTV and business news platforms. (The Siasat Daily)

The company did not disclose the financial terms of the latest purchase. The move underscores Adani’s continued expansion into the media and content ecosystem, building a network of news and information services under its broader corporate portfolio. (Rediff)
