On September 18, 2025, the Allahabad High Court granted bail to Samajwadi Party veteran Azam Khan in the high-profile “Quality Bar” land encroachment case in Rampur. The bench, led by Justice Sameer Jain, approved his plea after arguments concluded on August 21. (India Today)

The case originates from a complaint filed on November 21, 2019 by Gagan Arora, the owner of Quality Bar. The FIR alleged that Azam Khan, along with others including his wife Tazeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam Khan, illegally occupied property on the highway in Said Nagar (Hardoi Patti), under the Civil Lines police station jurisdiction in Rampur. Khan had initially not been named in the FIR but was added later after police reinvestigation. (Uni India)

Azam Khan’s bail plea was earlier rejected by the local MP-MLA court on May 17, 2025, but the High Court overturned that decision. His counsel argued that the prosecution could not adequately establish illegal occupation or misuse, and raised issues about delay in naming him as an accused. With this order, no other pending bail pleas remain for him in this particular case. (India Today)
