Civil rights groups and concerned citizens in Bengaluru have raised alarm over increasing incidents of vigilante violence targeting Muslim households during the recent Eid celebrations. Activists are demanding immediate government intervention and accountability for groups accused of forcibly entering homes under the pretext of cow protection.
According to reports, self-styled vigilantes allegedly raided multiple Muslim homes in parts of Karnataka’s capital, accusing families of possessing or consuming beef. These incidents have sparked outrage across civil society, with activists decrying the unchecked rise in communal vigilantism.
Several organizations, including human rights forums and minority advocacy groups, held protests in the city and submitted petitions demanding strict action against the perpetrators. They stressed that such raids violate the right to privacy, promote communal disharmony, and instill fear among Muslim citizens, especially during religious festivities.
Activists called on the state government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that all communities can observe their religious practices without intimidation or discrimination. They also emphasized the need for regulating hate-driven groups that often act above the law under political patronage.
As these troubling incidents gain attention, many are urging for stricter enforcement of law and equal protection of citizens’ rights, regardless of religion or community.
