Amid rising military tensions between Israel and Iran, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Tehran is actively working to relocate Indian students in Iran to safer locations within the country. This precautionary move comes as the region faces the risk of further escalation following recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on Thursday that while there are currently no plans for evacuation, the safety of Indian citizens remains the top priority. He confirmed that students are being moved from high-risk zones to areas considered more secure, in coordination with local authorities and the Indian mission in Tehran.
This development follows Israel’s unprecedented strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, prompting fears of regional conflict. Although Iran has responded with retaliatory rhetoric and limited actions, the situation remains highly volatile.
Families of Indian students have been expressing growing concern over the safety of their loved ones studying in Iran, especially in cities like Tehran and Isfahan, which have been identified as potential targets.
The MEA assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to take further steps if needed, while advising Indian nationals to remain alert and follow the guidance of the Embassy.
