Shillong, April 25, 2025 — A 30-year-old man, identified as Simon Shylla, was arrested by the Special Cell of the East Khasi Hills Police in Meghalaya for allegedly posting pro-terrorist comments on social media in support of the recent Pahalgam attack.
According to Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, Shylla used his Facebook account to upload a video clip from a local news channel and made comments that were considered anti-national and supportive of the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack.
Law enforcement officials raided Shylla’s residence in Umlyngka town, seizing two mobile phones. A case has been registered at Lumdiengjri police station under Sections 113(3), 196(1)(a), and 147 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity on the basis of religion, and actions threatening the country’s integrity.
Shylla is scheduled to be produced in court later today.
