A Muslim father was mercilessly thrashed after he complained about the molestation of his daughter in a private school in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
The incident of brutal attack has gone viral on social media. The father of the victim had gone to complain to the principal accusing a student of harassing his daughter. Instead of listening to his plea to take action, the principal allegedly called outsiders who came and attacked him.
The girl alleged that she was facing harassment at the hands of a student and the school management refused to hear her complaints.
The father has been seriously injured and is undergoing treatment in a district hospital.
The relatives of the victim accused the principal of aiding the accused instead of protecting the girl.
The principal has denied calling the outsiders to carry out the attack. He claimed to have expelled the accused boy from school when he found out he was guilty.
The family has rejected his version of events and told the media that he is clearly lying and making up stories to protect himself and the accused.
Meanwhile, activists and community leaders have also expressed shock and anger at the incident. They pointed out the way in which a Muslim victim is treated by the school management.
The incident has triggered tensions and fear in Saharanpur. One of the community leaders questioned, “How can our children be safe in an environment where a father is beaten for reporting molestation of his daughter?”
Locals expressed similar thoughts and raised questions. On social media, people strongly criticised the principal for failing to call police and taking matters in his hands. One of the users wrote, “How could the principal take matters in his hand and call outsiders to attack the victim’s father, did he do it because he was a Muslim? When will hate crimes like this stop?”
