A disturbing incident occurred aboard the Vande Bharat Express when a passenger was allegedly assaulted after declining to exchange seats with a BJP MLA. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns about VIP culture and intimidation on public transport.
According to eyewitness reports, the passenger had booked a window seat in advance. When the BJP legislator, whose name has not been officially released, boarded the train, he reportedly asked the individual to vacate the seat for his convenience. Upon the passenger’s polite refusal, tensions escalated, and he was allegedly manhandled by the MLA’s supporters onboard.
The video of the altercation, now viral on social media, shows railway officials intervening while fellow passengers express shock at the behavior. Several social media users and activists condemned the use of political influence to bully ordinary citizens.
Human rights groups have demanded an inquiry into the matter, and several opposition leaders have also raised the issue in the media, stating that the public transport system should remain free from political coercion and harassment.
The Railways has yet to issue an official statement, while legal experts are calling for accountability and charges against those involved in the assault.
