A man holding a UK student visa was arrested at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after authorities discovered that he had submitted fake educational certificates to obtain his visa. The incident occurred on Sunday during routine immigration checks.
The individual, identified as M. Mujeebuddin from Hyderabad’s Shastripuram area, had recently returned from the UK. Immigration officials grew suspicious after examining his documents and referred the matter to the Shamshabad police. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the degree certificates he used were forged.
Mujeebuddin reportedly admitted that he had submitted fake academic qualifications to secure a UK student visa. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and forgery. Authorities are now probing whether he had any help in fabricating the documents or securing the visa.
This arrest highlights the ongoing issue of fraudulent practices in student visa applications and the need for stricter scrutiny of academic credentials. Immigration officials reiterated that such actions could lead to permanent travel bans and legal consequences both in India and abroad.
