In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Iran has launched a new wave of missile and drone attacks on Israel, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people and leaving dozens more wounded. The assault marks one of the most intense phases of the ongoing conflict between the two regional powers.

According to Iranian state media, the strikes were part of what they termed a “second phase of retaliation” for recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory, including key military and civilian targets in Tehran. The attacks reportedly targeted Israeli military installations as well as urban areas in southern and central Israel.

Israel’s emergency services confirmed the casualties and said rescue operations were underway in multiple locations affected by the strikes. Several residential buildings were damaged, and hospitals have been placed on high alert to handle the influx of injured civilians.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responded with retaliatory air raids on Iranian-linked targets in Syria and Lebanon, further widening the scope of the conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the attacks “a grave provocation” and warned of “decisive consequences.”

Tensions between Iran and Israel have reached a boiling point in recent weeks, with both nations engaging in near-daily confrontations, drone warfare, and cyberattacks. Global powers, including the United States, Russia, and the United Nations, have issued urgent appeals for de-escalation, fearing a broader regional war.
