Islamabad, May 24, 2025 — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in separate telephonic conversations with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, focusing on regional stability, the situation in Gaza, and bilateral relations.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed concern over India’s attempt to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains the root cause of instability in South Asia.
The discussions also addressed the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Prime Minister Sharif urged the international community to ensure consistent and timely delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. He expressed hope that the upcoming UN Conference on the Two-State Solution would yield meaningful outcomes.
In his conversation with President Al-Sisi, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed gratitude for Egypt’s constructive role in facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan earlier this month. Both leaders agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic, commercial, and investment sectors. President Al-Sisi accepted an invitation to undertake an official visit to Pakistan, underscoring the commitment to deepen ties between the two nations.
