Former Malaysian Prime Minister and prominent statesman, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, has made a passionate appeal to the international community, urging nations to rise above their hesitation in confronting the United States over its support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
In a statement shared on his official X account (formerly Twitter), Mahathir emphasized that fear of US influence is a major barrier to global efforts aimed at halting the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. “Many are afraid of America. But we must find the courage to act. There are ways to bring the violence to an end,” he wrote.
Highlighting the contradiction between America’s human rights rhetoric and its unwavering support for Israel, Mahathir remarked that the world’s inaction stems from Washington’s backing. “The international community remains powerless. Why? Because the United States—often seen as a champion of human rights—fully supports what is happening in Gaza,” he added.
His remarks come as global outrage continues to grow over the ongoing civilian casualties in the region, with increasing calls for immediate humanitarian intervention.
