A recent investigative report has unveiled that the United Kingdom has continued exporting military equipment to Israel, despite a declared suspension of certain arms export licenses in September 2024. The report, compiled by the Palestinian Youth Movement, Progressive International, and Workers for a Free Palestine, analyzed data from the Israel Tax Authority and the UK’s Export Control Joint Unit.(The Guardian)

Between October 2023 and March 2025, the UK reportedly authorized 14 shipments totaling over 160,000 military items to Israel. These included more than 150,000 bullets, rocket and grenade launchers, and components for revolvers, pistols, shotguns, rifles, tanks, and armored vehicles. Notably, over 8,000 munitions were exported after the UK’s announced suspension, raising questions about the effectiveness and enforcement of the restrictions.(The Guardian)

The UK government’s suspension in 2024 affected approximately 30 out of 350 arms export licenses, primarily those with a clear risk of contributing to violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza. However, the report indicates that many licenses remained active, including those related to the F-35 fighter jet program, citing national and NATO security concerns.(France 24, The Guardian)

Critics argue that the continued exports undermine the UK’s stated commitment to human rights and international law. Calls for a comprehensive review and stricter enforcement of arms export regulations have intensified in light of these findings.(Middle East Eye)
