Speaking through a campaign spokesperson, Trump expressed concern over what he described as “economic aggression” by BRICS, particularly in forming alternate financial alliances and energy deals that bypass the U.S. dollar.
The spokesperson stated that Trump views the BRICS coalition — comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — as attempting to undermine American economic leadership. “President Trump is committed to protecting American workers and industries. If BRICS nations continue policies that threaten U.S. economic sovereignty, tariffs and trade restrictions will be reconsidered,” the statement read.
