In another harrowing attack on civilians, Israeli forces killed at least 42 Palestinians and injured over 100 others on Saturday in an assault on displaced people seeking humanitarian aid in the Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, the victims were unarmed civilians who had gathered to receive urgent food aid in the camp. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire targeted the area, striking people standing in food queues.

The media office accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians to deepen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. “This is not a mistake or collateral damage—this is a systematic policy to punish the population,” said a spokesperson. The incident comes as aid access continues to be severely restricted, worsening famine-like conditions in the besieged enclave.

This attack is one of many in recent weeks that have struck areas designated for humanitarian assistance, further raising international concerns about the Israeli military’s conduct in Gaza. Rights organizations and UN officials have repeatedly condemned such attacks as violations of international law.

As Gaza’s death toll continues to mount, calls are growing louder for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access.
