In a dramatic statement from behind bars, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has accused Army Chief General Asim Munir of being directly responsible for any harm that may come to him. Khan’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between the jailed leader and the country’s powerful military establishment.

Speaking through his legal team after a court appearance at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Khan said: “If anything happens to me, Asim Munir will be held accountable.” The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder claimed that his life is under threat and that the military has been orchestrating efforts to suppress him and dismantle his party since his ouster from office.

Khan, who has faced a series of legal battles and multiple convictions, continues to accuse the military of interfering in Pakistan’s democratic process. He also warned that his silence should not be mistaken for weakness, asserting that he would not negotiate with those he blames for dismantling democracy in the country.

The former cricketer-turned-politician has long alleged that the military played a central role in removing him from power and obstructing his political return. His latest comments are likely to escalate the ongoing civil-military standoff and intensify political instability in Pakistan.
