The Delhi High Court on July 25, 2025, issued a notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) regarding a plea filed by jailed Baramulla MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid (commonly known as Engineer Rashid). He is challenging a trial court order that required him to bear ₹1.44 lakhs per day in travel and security expenses—totaling approximately ₹17 lakhs—to attend the Monsoon Session of Parliament in custody while also seeking interim bail (indianexpress.com).

A Division Bench presided by Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Shalinder Kaur has scheduled the next hearing for July 29, when they will also review Rashid’s ongoing regular bail plea in the alleged terror‑funding case (livelaw.in).

Rashid, elected to the Lok Sabha in 2024 by defeating Omar Abdullah, has been in Tihar Jail since 2019 under charges related to alleged terror financing and associations with separatist groups under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) (en.wikipedia.org).
