Srinagar, May 23, 2025 – Prominent Islamic scholar and Grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah, Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi, suffered a massive heart attack on Thursday morning and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital in Srinagar. Mufti Qasmi, born on June 20, 1964, in Bunjwah, Kishtwar, is a respected Sunni Islamic scholar and jurist. An alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband, he serves as the Grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah and is a founding member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He has authored several works, including “Mirzaiyat ka radd – Usūl awr Tarīqa-e-Behs” and “Islam awr AIDS se tahaffuz ka tarīqa.” His religious edicts are regularly published in the Friday edition of Kashmir Uzma.
In light of his health crisis, all scheduled religious and educational programs under his guidance have been temporarily suspended. The public is urged to offer special prayers for his speedy and complete recovery.
