An 18-year-old girl from Kashmir, Bisma Jan, has made history by entering the Guinness World Records for creating the world’s largest display of bookmarks. Hailing from Dooru Shahabad in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Bisma created a stunning collection of 1,700 handmade bookmarks—each with unique designs and inspirational messages.
The event was organized at Government Degree College, Dooru, in collaboration with the Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IIEDC), Kashmir University. The bookmarks featured themes ranging from education and peace to women empowerment, health awareness, and environmental sustainability.
Speaking to the media, Bisma said she wanted to use creativity to deliver messages of positivity and awareness. She began her journey during the COVID-19 lockdown, which gave her the time and motivation to pursue artistic projects that blended design and social messaging.
Her achievement has earned wide appreciation from educationists, local leaders, and the student community. The Guinness certification not only recognizes her creativity but also highlights the potential of Kashmiri youth on global platforms.
