India Implements Diplomatic and Security Measures Following Pahalgam Incident

In response to the recent tragic events in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where over 25 individuals lost their lives, the Indian government has announced a series of diplomatic and security measures:

  1. Closure of Wagah-Attari Border: The Wagah-Attari border crossing between India and Pakistan has been closed with immediate effect.
  2. Reduction in Diplomatic Staff: India has decided to reduce the strength of its diplomatic mission in Islamabad, and has requested Pakistan to do the same in New Delhi, bringing down the number of diplomats to 30 from the current 55.
  3. Suspension of SAARC Visa Exemptions: The government has suspended visa exemptions for Pakistani nationals under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) framework.
  4. Declaration of Persona Non Grata: India has declared a Pakistani defense advisor in New Delhi as persona non grata, granting them a week to depart the country.

These measures reflect India’s stance on the incident and its implications for regional security and diplomatic relations.
